**After Dark**
This post is more of a special edition piece I decided to do for the blog in honor of one of my favorite events in the city called Fash Bash! This glamorous fundraising event is thrown yearly by The Founders Junior Council of the Detroit Institute of Arts in collaboration with Neiman Marcus and Lincoln Black Label to raise money for the DIA. The night is always packed with fashion galore demanding those who attend to show up in dressy, fashion chic attire. I have been going to this event for many years now and I always find it to be such a great opportunity to spin a twist on my after dark style. We all know how easy it is to wear a lbd to an event like this, but, why not try something a little different? I originally just wanted to showcase this bustier top with a skinny cigarette pant by itself, but then later decided to design a belted taffeta sash to drape along side of it. The sash was super simple to make. I just went to Jo-ann Fabrics and purchased 2 yards of good quality taffeta and took the material to my seamstress. **Please note** having a good seamstress can be life changing. Altering clothing to tailor your body is extremely crucial to dressing well. She then turned my 2 yards of fabric into this dramatic belt that really tied this entire look together. I suggest keeping your hair and makeup simple as you would not want to take anything away from the details of the outfit. Even when it comes to jewelry, keep it simple. Chic and sleek makes for a perfect Fash Bash type of event ensemble! Shop the look here:

Sash –
- Check out your local fabric store for good quality taffeta. (Jo-ann’s usually offers coupons.”)
- Purchase 2 yards which should be plenty to make the same sash as I’m wearing.
- If you don’t have a seamstress, look for one in your area. Most will know how to create this sash just by looking at the picture. I had mine put a clasp in place to fasten it, but I asked her not to pre-knot anything as I like wearing mine with and without a bow.
If you have any other questions about this outfit, please feel free to message me! Happy shopping 🙂
